If you are reading this, we want you to know you are welcome in our cars.
There are many horror stories about those who don’t ‘form the norm’ having troubles with taxi drivers across the world. Drivers that have made people feel unwelcome simply due to who they love. People have been met with violence and rudeness. They have been kicked out of ride hailing cars, been refused service, not been picked up at certain addresses or clubs.
We don’t want to give drivers with this attitude any space on our pages but we wanted to state that we know how people can sometimes feel unwelcome or have anxiety about being picked up by an unknown, more often than not male, taxi driver.
Steve’s cars is a small, family operated business. We know each other. We have deep roots in the community. We bring our families up in the town we share and yes, our families are as diverse and beautiful as yours.
Belper is getting bigger. Being a tourist town, it has many visitors from many different walks of life.
It is sad that in 2023, we have to publicly state our support for the LGBTQ+ community. But we recognise that historical challenges are not always in the past. We recognise that not just in other parts of the world, but in our own communities, today, homophobia and bigotry, anger and upset, lack of support, judgement and more are all part of the day to day challenge some people face.
We want you to know that Pride isn’t just about a flag and facebook post in June.
